About HIP HOPE Conference
Hiroshima International Peace for HOPE: HIP HOPE Conference is an international conference of high school students, which was held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 through an online conference using Webinar. Since last year, Covid-19 has affected many countries around the world, and even in Japan, where we live, schools have been closed. Even now, one year later, the situation is still not under control. I think that people in many countries have experienced a high school life that they never imagined. However, we started to think that there must be something we can do in such a situation. Using the Internet, we are holding this conference as an opportunity for high school students from all over the world to think about “peace,” cooperate with each other, and move forward.
In order to realize our idea of “From HIROSHIMA To HIROSHIMA”, high school students from HIROSHIMA will present their research on “Peace”, and answer questions that high school students from around the world will ask. It is essential that diverse high school student think about the importance of peace and cooperate with each other to take action to create a sustainable society on earth. Even though we are unable to travel to and from overseas, we are holding this conference with SDGs 4.7 in mind, and we hope that it will be an opportunity for people to learn about Hiroshima and for each of us to think deeply about various social issues.
We would like to create an opportunity for people all over the world to think about “peace” during the difficult situation caused by the new coronavirus. For this purpose, we have created our own website which aiming to build a place where people worldwide can learn about international peace, and provide a place where activities for realizing international peace can be connected.
